General English programmes are at 7 levels from Elementary to Proficiency, aiming to develop listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing skills.

OTHER COURSES

:: INTEREST FOCUSED COURSES ::


RECEIVE & RESPOND :


Taught by native-speaker teachers using specially designed materials, this programme focuses on the development of listening comprehension and oral communication skills, with emphasis on vocabulary selection.

Levels:
Upper Intermediate and above
INTENSITY: *4 hours per week, 16 hours per term (2 weekdays)

EXPLORE & EXPRESS:

These programmes focus on academic reading and writing skills, where authentic texts such as articles and reports are studied in terms of context, discourse and style. Individual observations and evaluations with critical interpretation and discussion of opinions are then put into writing.

Level:
Upper Intermediate and above
Total Class Hours : 48


ENERGIZING ENGLISH
A programme offered at every level, which aims to improve reading and communication skills as well as vocabulary development, under the supervision of a teacher.

Level:
Lower Intermediate and above
INTENSITY: *2 hours per week, 8 hours per term

TRANSLATION:
A programme that focusses on the development of translation skills from Turkish to English and English to Turkish, using specially designed materials to teach the techniques, as well as strengthening grammar and vocabulary knowledge.

Level :
Lower Advanced and above
Total Class Hours : 96

BUSINESS ENGLISH COURSES:

BUSINESS ENGLISH:

These programmes follow a modular system where oral and written communication skills are developed together with the grammar and vocabulary required to meet the needs of business life.

Levels:
Upper Intermediate and above
INTENSITY: 8 hours per week, 32 hours per term (2-3 weekdays)

BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE:

The content of this programme is designed to teach a variety of writing techniques in English, to help in structuring and expressing opinions effectively in business correspondence and brief reporting. Focussing on format and organization of written tasks as well as appropriate grammar and vocabulary, to achieve effective business communication.

Upper Intermediate and above

APPLYING FOR A JOB:

A programme both for preparing and writing letters of application for jobs, CVs and letters of intent, and for developing and practising interview techniques.

Level :
Upper Intermediate and above

GIVING PRESENTATIONS:

This programme is for those preparing to give effective oral presentations, including the preparation of visual materials.

Level :
Upper Intermediate and above

EXAM PREPARATION COURSES:

Special programmes teaching the techniques, skills and knowledge needed to prepare for the following exams, using specially designed materials produced by our teachers, expert in this area, and also providing the opportunity to take objectively assessed practice tests with appropriate feedback in advance of the live exam.

* SECTORAL ENGLISH COURSES
Specially designed programmes to meet the different language requirements of the target sector. The level, total class hours and intensity are arranged according to clients’ needs.

 

*“ONE-to-ONE” and PROJECT COURSES:

“One-to-one” programmes are tailored to meet individual needs in English language learning.

Project Programmes are organised for public or private institutions or for private groups formed by individuals, tailored to meet special needs in English language learning.

:: FREE OF CHARGE EXTRA+ ACTIVITIES ::

The course fee includes the advantages offered below:

+ SELF-ACCESS STUDY CENTRE:

Equipped with computers, audio and video facilities, this is a quite space for students to develop their learning experience in language skills and grammar knowledge using numerous books as well as specially designed materials. The supervising teacher will be happy to provide any assistance and information.

+ READERS’ LIBRARY:

Located in the Self-Access Study Centre, the TBA Readers’ Library provides over one thousand books on a wide variety of subjects and for students at all levels who wish to improve their reading skills in English.

:: TBA EXAMINATIONS CENTRE ::

The Turco-British Association organises;
* Certificate examinations comprising of written and oral components applying international standards and ensuring objective evaluation, on individual or institutional application. As such, they have gained a wide reputation, justifying the well-deserved trust placed in them.
Successful candidates are awarded the TBA English Proficiency Certificate.

* Tailor-made English examinations at different levels for goverment and private sector enterprises focusing on their differing needs.

* Trial exams for national ( KPDS, University English Exemption Examinations... ) and international (FCE, IELTS, BEC...) examinations.

:: UK EXAMINATIONS ::

The Turco-British Association is the only centre in and around Ankara, administering the widely recognised Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

The Language Passport component of the European Language Portfolio requires the recording of certificates and diplomas obtained based on the examinations of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) Framework within the Common European Framework. Cambridge ESOL is a member of ALTE and all its certificates are those that can be placed in the Council of Europe, European Language Portfolio.

:: REGISTRATION ::

PLACEMENT TEST:
· The Placement Test is given to prospective students wishing to join our courses in order to assess their current level of English so that they can be placed in a suitable class at their proficiency level.
· The Placement Test has written and oral components, and is organised on the dates and hours stated on the Academic Calendar.

· Based on the Placement Test result, our Registration Office provides information and guidance on the days, times and intensities of the course programmes available at the student's level.
· Those with no knowledge of English are registered directly for the “Elementary” Level without a placement test. Others, even with very little English, are registered at the level indicated by the Placement Test result.
· The fee for the Placement Test is paid at the time of the test.

REGISTRATION:

>Registrations are made monthly and fees are collected during registration.

· To register, students should bring a photocopy of their ID card, two passport-sized photographs and the relevant course fee, payable in cash or by credit card.

· Due to the high demand for our courses, we advise our prospective students not to leave their registration to the very last moment.

RE-REGISTRATION:

· · Provided they have completed the current course with a satisfactory performance grade, registered students of our courses need to re-register during the period announced, should they wish to continue in the same group for the next term.

· Late applications to re-register for the subsequent term may not be possible if the class is already full.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

1. Sitting the Placement Test does not guarantee the availability of a class at the time slot desired by the prospective student.

2. Teachers are allocated before the start of each new term. The TBA reserves the right to re-allocate teachers.

3. The TBA reserves the right to close classes before the term starts, in which case the students will be refunded the fees paid.

4. Receipts for course fees paid and registration documents cannot, under any circumstances, be re-issued. Students who require such documents for institutional purposes are responsible for their safe-keeping.

5. Course fees can only be refunded before the term starts provided that all registration documents are returned. Course fees cannot be deferred to future terms.

6. Students who require certification of attendance at the TBA should apply within one year, as such records are kept for that period only.

7.The TBA reserves the right to revise course fees during the academic year.

Our registered students are understood to have accepted the general terms and conditions listed above.
